Eat LESS, train MORE- BEAT THE BS!
I have failed many times on the ‘’Eat LESS, train MORE’’ method for many years, I'm not saying this approach wont get you any weight loss results (Yes, you will achieve something in the short term), but long term this approach will not help you with your journey and it isn't going to be something you will be able to maintain- a healthy and strong lifestyle, in fact it will make things alot of harder for you MENTALLY, PHYSICALLY & EMOTIONALLY. As you can see 'I strongly disagree with everything this statement stands for- its total BS', not because I read it from a book or because science tells me so, its because I have experienced it and battled it from a 16 year old kid right up until I was 25 years old.
If you have the midset of the 'eat LESS, train MORE' method I strongly suggest you read this SFTM blog as I am going to share some basic information with you on this topic.
EAT LESS: What will this do? It will make your body more catabolic leading to a reduction in muscle tissue which will equate to a lower metabolic rate. With the anabolic rate of a neutered animal you will be fighting a losing battle to progress with the inability to build muscle tissue which is one of the biggest factors in forcing the body to transform and become more metabolically efficient. Those who solely focus on the calorific values they eat will often have the above issues because they are not giving the body the relevant nutrients to support anabolism which is at the end of the day the key to getting STRONGER - FASTER and more HEALTHIER.
TRAIN MORE: As if the 'EAT LESS' wasn’t bad enough for you- now you are going to attempt to do MORE exercise. Yep, most people tend to do too much exercise (Yes, I have been one of those people in the past), often the wrong sort as well in relation to the goal they are trying to achieve. What will this do? By doing more training you will simply speed up the negative process described above – less muscle tissue, more catabolism, less anabolism and metabolic issues for the future. YAY (insert sarcasm)!
If you have done the above in the past or you continually do this this method in cycles, please STOP what you are doing, it has no positives for you, especially in the early stages of your lifestyle change.
Instead of worrying about the 'eat LESS, train MORE' method, we need to focus all of our energy on the ‘’Eat more food from quality sources and train smarter’’.
To bring this to a close I think the take home message really is eat food which support your goals and metabolic and genetic make up, don’t fear food and don’t think a shit load of hours in the gym is the answer to all your prayers.
I hope you now have an understanding of this title/common issue, and realize just how BS it is.
